Who are some South Indian Actresses that still deserve a big break in their careers?
Generally, an underrating factor comes for the actresses when they are unable to grab the attention of the audience and film-makers, so it will be difficult for them to stay in the loop. But sometimes they have everything except their stories didn’t come along as they thought. so, their fate made them into a fadeout list. Today you will be calling as a successful heroine if you deliver hit flick but tomorrow some other damsels supersede your position. In this heavy competition, underrating is a common term that a flop heroine gets. Let’s see who are the hapless divas in the South Indian Industry that still deserve a big break in their careers.
Anu Emmanuel (Majnu)
Ventured into the film industry as a heroine at the age of 19 with the Malayalam movie “Action Hero Biju” starring “Nivin Pauly, Anu Emmanuel” in the year 2016. That movie success brought her into Tollywood where she acted alongside Natural Star Nani’s Majnu which was released in the same year.
With that Majnu hit, she bagged offers from Vishal, Pawan Kalyan, Allu Arjun, Gopichand, Nagachaitanya, Raj Tarun. But sadly Except “Thupparivalan’’ with Vishal, movies with rest of the star heroes had flunked at the box-office which brought her an iron leg tag in Tollywood.
Her last release was “Namma Veetu Pillai” alongside Sivakarthikeyan and Aishwarya Rajesh where I considered her role was of very little importance except for songs and few scenes.
so, she had lack offers from the whole south Industry even though she has everything like a commercial heroine. When she used to film with “Allu Arjun and Pavan Kalyan” we thought she would be ruling Tollywood after Kajal, Thamanna, Samantha but disappeared from the industry with a few movies in her kitty.
I think her main problem was the selection of wrong scripts like hero-oriented movies. At least she was offered memorable roles in “Majnu and Shailaja Reddy Alludu” where she had some scope to deliver performance.
Mehreen(Krishna Gadi Veera Prema Gadha)
Honey alias Mehreen is not only the sister of Thamanna in “F2” movie but she also resembles similar skin colour and height like her. Mehreen also ventured into Tollywood with the natural star Nani’s Krishna Gadi Veera Prema Gadha” like Anuemmanuel in the year 2016. This movie became a massive hit in that year where her character “Mahalaxmi” got huge appreciation from the audience.
In the next year 2017, she acted in four films where she bagged back to back blockbusters in her kitty with the movies “Mahanubhavudu and Raja the great” alongside “Sharwanand and Raviteja” respectively where the plot of those two movies revolves around her character.
Along with two average movies, like Jawaan with Sai Dharam Tej and C/o Surya with Sandeep Kishan.
from then she has been increasing the list of flop movies than hit. Except for F2, all her Kollywood and Tollywood movies got flunked where she acted alongside Vijaydevarakonda in Nota, Gopichand in Pantham and Chanakya, Bellamkonda Sai Srinivas in “Kavacham”.
Recently she appeared in Entha Machivadavura with Kalyan Ram, in Pattas with Dhanush, Aswathama with Naga Shourya. But none of these brings a star heroine status to her.
Pragya Jaiswal(Kanche)
Pragya Jaiswal, the fame of Kanche is a model as well as an actress. She hails from Madhya Pradesh. She is nowhere less to “Disha Patni” in any angle but her choice of story selection was very bad. I thought she never seriously tried in films that’s why lagging behind in the competition else she would rule the south by this time if she is aware of her capability. She is underrated by people and filmmakers is what I feel about her.
Better she should change the industry to get to the limelight.
Lavanya Tripathi(Andala Rakshasi)
Though she started her career with the movie “Andala Rakshasi” in the year 2012 which is almost nearly a decade, she never acted in big-budget movies till today.
In 8 years, she did 18 films, out of them, only 5 films were blockbusters like Andala Rakshasi, Bale Bale Magadivoy, Soggade Chinni Nayana, Srirastu Subhamastu, Arjun Suravaram, Vunnadi Okati Zindagi, Doosukeltha.
Luckily, she acted with young heroes of her age like Varun Tej, Ram, Sandeep Kishan, Nani, Nikhil, Allu Sirish, Sai Dharam Tej, Naveen Chandra, Naga Chaitanya.
I don’t know the reason she was never cast alongside Mahesh babu, Pavan Kalyan, NTR, Allu Arjun, Prabhas though she has all the abilities except the status of star heroine.
Hebbah Patel (Kumari 21F)
I have never thought our kumari “Hebbah Patel” does run out of movie offers. yes, she gave a brilliant performance in the Tollywood Film “Kumari 21F”. Seriously this movie got hit because of her bold acting.
But sadly to say, our poor directors didn’t use her talent much except for special songs and special appearances.
Hope she will be back again with good scripts but it’s very hard even getting a good comeback than getting a debut in other industries like Kannada and Malayalam.
Rithik Singh (Irudhi Suttru)
The only Boxer who made it in films just because of her profession is “Rithika Singh”, the fame of “Irudhi Suttru, Saala Khadoos and Guru”. It’s rare for an actress to get acted for the same role in the own remake in three languages where she bagged National Award, Filmfare awards for her acting in these movies.
But our south Indian filmmakers fail to dig out the acting skills in her than her boxing skills.
Seriously, she hadn’t got that break that many other actresses had….she is one of the most underrated actresses for 5 years.
Karthika Nair(Kho)
The biggest disadvantage for the “Kho” actress is her “Daughter of Radha” tag. Even she worked for good projects unable to mark her presence in the movie industry. She also acted in the Hindi serial named “Arambh” due to lack of offers. I think she is the most hapless one despite having a movie background.
Vedika Kumar(Paradesi)
I think Vedika is the first heroine who I have fallen in love with the maintenance of her physique after Shilpa Shetty. seriously she did her first movie as a heroine when I was in class 6th and even now she holds the same appearance as a typical college girl. She looks more fresh and gorgeous even after the completion of 15 years in the movie industry.
she acted in Raghava Lawrence in “Muni” series in 2007 and after a decade she portrayed a role as a heroine with the same hero in the same series i.e. Muni4. I think its god’s grace as she is still able to get new offers.
But South Indian Industry never gave her recognition like what Rashmika and Pooja Hegde had for few hit films. It’s a matter of acceptance and luck.
Shaanvi Srivastava(Lovely)
Shanvi is such a beautiful damsel but never got that attention in South India so far. Her journey is like being born in Tollywood and brought up in Sandalwood as she did her first few films in Telugu and mostly continuing in Kannada after that.
Thanks to Sandalwood for making use of this innocent face. She is one of the soft-hearted heroines that I have ever listened to. She simply resembles Anushka Shetty in her talks. I mean she converses with that innocence.
Hope she will have a great comeback in Tollywood.
Reetu Varma(Pellichoopulu)
Though Ritu-Varma, one of the Tollywood damsels, bagged hits in her kitty with South Indian’s crazy heroes “Dulquer Salman and Vijay Devarakonda’’ still struggling to have a grand comeback to get a star image. She started acting movies in the year 2013 but did only a few notable films like Pellichoopulu, Keshava, Kaanum Kaanum Kollai Adithal, Prema Ishq Kaadhal.
She is eagerly waiting for her next releases like Dhruva Nachitram with Chiyaan Vikram, Tuck Jagadish alongside Nani.
Shalini Pandey(Arjun Reddy)
Shalini Pandey of Arjun Reddy, after the release of her first film, was seen in four films as a full-fledged heroine. They are 118 with Kalyanram, 100%love with GV Prakash, Gorilla with Jiiva, Iddari Lokam Okate with Raj Tarun and rest all other films are supporting characters. But Shalini made news in the headlines after bagging the role alongside ‘Ranveer Singh’ in “Jayeshbhai Jordaar’. Hope she will be going places with this hit. But it’s rare to get that recognition in Bollywood as Ileana, Asin, Tamannah are the best examples for that.
Anandi/Rakshitha(Kayal)
“Kayal” fame Anandi shot to fame through Tamil movies as she was completely ignored by Tollywood film Industry. Like Lavanya Tripati, she too never cast alongside a star hero even after the completion of 8 years successfully in Kollywood industry. She is the big heroine for low budget movies in Kollywood.
But a good thing about her is she never ran out of offers and is still busy with a couple of movies this year.
Bindu Madhavi (Avakai Biryani)
Bindhu, another Telugu beauty. I think the same story as Anandhi. Being a Telugu heroine shot to fame with Tamil movies but never getting the good break since a decade. Even though she has good acting skills, rising new-comers lessened her chances of surviving in the movie industry. It’s good to see that she is quite busy in doing web series as her latest outing directed by “Jagarlamudi Krish” called “Masti” starring Navadeep, Hebah Patel, Bindumadhavi, had a great viewership in Aha platform
Sri Divya(Manasara)
Sri Divya’s journey follows the same route from Tollywood to Kollywood but somehow she owns the Tamil audience with her mettle in acting. Despite that, she had done good films with Vishal, Shivakarthiyan, GV Prakash, Atharva, Karthi. She also missed the movie with “Vijay” due to dates issues. Hope she will have star heroine status with upcoming projects
Actresses like Malavika Nair, Priya Anand, Avika Gor, Sunaina, Surabhi, Chitra Sukla, Seerat Kapoor, Misti, Shraddha Das, Poonam Kaur also underrated by the Industry much though they had the potential to deliver performance.
If we go on a listing, there will be more underrating actresses that still deserve a big break in their careers added to it. This shows us that the cinema industry is not a cup of tea for everyone and one must have patience and support, especially the luck factor in this film industry along with acting skills.
